SOFTWARE

Currently, I only offer one piece of software on my site, a calculator for designing gore seams. To the amateur, a gore is simply a triangular section that when combined with many others of the same size, forms a dome. My gore section calculator allows the user to specify a dome diameter, a material width (how wide your plastic roll is) and the number of lateral divisions in the gore which equates to "how accurate the dome will look." We could denote lateral divisions as the number of specified gore widths defining the gore from base to tip.

All of my software to date is command line based, but coming soon will have a fully working graphical user interface. Software for the DIY Planetarium site is written in Java so that users on any platform can run it.
